The recent update to WhatsApp, which began rolling out in February and has now reached users in India, has sparked conversations among its vast user base. Known for its blue theme in the past, the app has now transitioned to a green color scheme, a change that has divided opinions among users.

Meta, the owner of WhatsApp, states that the aim behind this change is to deliver a “modern, new experience” and to make the app “more accessible as well as easier to use.” According to the company, the update involves alterations in the app’s appearance, including spacing, colors, icons, and more.

Both iOS and Android users will notice the changes, with Android users experiencing a shift in the shade of green compared to the previous version. For iPhone users, the transformation includes a shift from the blue color scheme to a predominantly green interface, from the status bar to the chat-list window. Even links shared within the app now appear in green instead of blue.

Additionally, Android users will observe subtle adjustments to the dark mode, making it even darker, while the light mode will offer improved readability with added space.

Beyond the color change, WhatsApp has implemented other updates aimed at enhancing user experience. Recently, the app came under scrutiny for capitalizing some words in its messaging indicators. Users noticed that the first letters of “online” and “typing” were capitalized to “Online” and “Typing,” respectively, sparking significant discussions online across both Android and iOS platforms.
